Vera Wang, one of the foremost fashion designers based in the United States, has joined the Beverly Hills community with the purchase of mid-century, contemporary home for $10 million, the Wall Street Journal reports.
Wang is known for her range of haute couture bridesmaid gowns and wedding gown collections. A former figure skater, Wang also provides designer dresses that are used in competitions by some of the world’s best women figure skaters. She is based in New York City, but a representative said Wang bought the Beverly Hills home because she plans to spend more time in Los Angeles.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the $10 million paid for the home was below the $10.9 million asking price that was listed in March. The property was previously owned by Steve Hermann, a designer and real estate agent who purchased the home for $5 million in 2008. He told the WSJ he spent more than $3 million in renovations on the home, which was built in 1967.
The modern home sits above Coldwater Canyon and features glass walls that provides sweeping views of the entire Los Angeles basin. It has four bedrooms, a 30-seat screening room, a pool and a spa.
